Reza Bonyadi
Reza Bonyadi (October 6, 1997 – October 6, 2022)
Reza Bonyadi was a young man from Aligudarz in Lorestan Province, Iran, and a student at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran. He believed in freedom, justice, and social responsibility. During the nationwide protests of 2022, he joined many of his fellow citizens in expressing their demands for change.
On October 6, 2022, Reza lost his life. According to reports and accounts published by relatives and civil society activists, he was shot during the government's crackdown on protesters. Family members and those close to him have also alleged that they faced pressure and intimidation regarding the public account of the circumstances surrounding his death.
Reza's death was a devastating loss for his family, friends, classmates, and the people of his hometown. Yet for many who knew him or learned his story, his name became associated with courage, dignity, and a commitment to freedom.
Although Reza is no longer with those who loved him, his memory continues to live on in their hearts and minds. For many, his life represents a generation that paid a heavy price for expressing its beliefs and aspirations. His legacy remains part of the collective memory of many Iranians who continue to remember those who lost their lives during those events.
