Parisa Asgari

Parisa Asgari (September 17, 1996 – October 13, 2022)

Parisa Asgari was born on September 17, 1996 in Aligudarz, Lorestan Province, Iran. She was an outstanding law student at the University of Tehran, having worked hard to earn admission to one of the country's most prestigious universities. She had ambitious plans for her education and future.
Following the death of Jina (Mahsa) Amini in September 2022, nationwide protests spread across Iran. Like many young Iranians, Parisa joined the demonstrations alongside her friends, seeking greater freedom and justice.
On October 13, 2022, during protests at Enghelab Square in Tehran, Parisa was fatally shot. According to eyewitness accounts and reports circulated by activists, she was struck by three bullets while participating in the demonstration. Videos reportedly recorded by students and bystanders captured the moments surrounding the shooting, and these recordings have continued to circulate on social media.
After her death, her family and other sources alleged that security authorities took custody of her body and pressured the family to publicly state that the cause of death was "brain death." Additional allegations claimed that some of her internal organs had been removed while her body was in official custody. These claims have been reported by activists and family members but have not been independently verified.
Parisa Asgari was laid to rest on October 15, 2022 in the Martyrs' Cemetery of Aligudarz.
For many supporters of the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement, Parisa Asgari became a symbol of courage, resistance, and the pursuit of freedom and justice. Her name continues to be remembered alongside those who lost their lives during Iran's 2022 nationwide protests.
